Despite their best efforts, ATI/AMD has been pretty much trouncing NVIDIA (in the mind of the consumer, at least, which is the most important place to do battle) in the consumer graphics card market lately, with the Radeons HD4850, HD4870 and HD4870X2.
With rising energy costs, people are looking everywhere they can to cut costs. Compact fluorescents are replacing traditional incandescents. People are foregoing air conditioning. Not even computers are escaping the trend, and you only need to look toward the spate of low power computers and components from essentially everyone to see that. One area that seems to have been overlooked, however, is the display, and Lenovo is rectifying that with the release of several new monitors with an environmental bent.
HP unveiled today an upgrade to its TouchSmart line with the IQ800 series. The new computers look exactly the same as the ones we looked at earlier, and also come with the same software. The biggest difference is that the screen has been upgraded to a whopping 25.5″ 1920×1200 WUXGA resolution over the 500-series’ 22″ 1680×1050 display. Interestingly, HP is showing the new models off as being wall mountable.
